What more of a hassle is there on-line than sorting through your e-mails to get rid of all those ones about Lower Insurance/Mortgages, Cheap
Investments, Double your $ in 30 days, Discount Viagara, Lose Weight Fast, Secret Stock IPOs, Offshore Casinos, and the list goes on
and on, to just find the ones that matter? Quadsimia has a solution.
All e-mail accounts include this feature.

What is Junk Email?
Junk Email, or SPAM as its commonly known as, is unsolicited commercial and/or bulk email that clogs up your inbox and is becoming more of
a nuisance on the Internet. Recent legislation may slow down its proliferation, but to date it has done little in stopping it. In fact,
some studies estimate that over 50% of the email on the Internet is now junk email.
If you think you are the only one receiving junk email, you’re not…we all are! That’s why Quadsimia has expanded its service
offerings in helping you reduce junk email and free up your inbox again!
The following is a brief explanation of this new service and how you are, as a Quadsimia/QUADLINK.net client, can take advantage of it. Also
included are some good tips to help you reduce the junk emails you receive.
Quadsimia has enhanced its offerings for junk email filtering for you. We have moved to a newer, more sophisticated, email filtering software
package. This new software has many more filters and tests to scan emails to see if they are junk email before delivering them to your inbox.
The software actually learns what is junk and what is not, as it receives and processes more and more emails. This learning process adjusts
its filters to be more effective in identifying and tagging junk email.
The new filters not only check email based on known IP addresses of where spam is originating from, but also tests using message header analysis
and the content of the email. For example, emails with “LOW MORTGAGES” or “VIAGRA” in the subject may be a good indicator
that this is unsolicited email.
In fact, many different tests are run against the email; each with a certain score added in if that test is passed. This cumulative score
is the junk spam score and indicates how like an email is junk.
No single test will make the email tagged as spam but the overall score will. Once above a certain score the email will have a [SPAM] tag
pre-pended to the subject line.

Spam Scores
The higher the spam score the more tests that the email failed and the higher the probability that the email is junk.
If the email reaches the spam score then the subject is pre-pended with [SPAM?]. This indicates this is probably junk email.
If the email reaches a very high spam score threshold then the subject is pre-pended with [SPAM!]. There is a high probability of this being
junk email.
We use both to help you manage your emails. For example, you can use the [SPAM?] filter to move these messages to a folder to check before
deleting. You can use the [SPAM!] filter to move to the trash can and delete without reviewing.
Advanced Users: If you look at the full headers of your email messages you will see a header called “spam
score” followed by a number Q’s. The Q’s indicate the spam score. For example, QQQQQQ would indicate a spam score of 6.
You can use this header in your email client to set your own thresholds for filters and actions to do with the email.

FAQs
Why not just delete the emails so I never see them?
There are no 100% effective filters for spam. Accuracy runs in the 95-99% range. Occasionally, good emails will fail the filtering tests.
Our solution is to tag the SUBJECT which allows you to set a filter in your email client that can either move these junk emails to their
own folder and not clutter up your inbox or simply delete them yourself.
Is there a monthly charge to have spam filtering?
No. There is no charge to have your domains or email addresses filtered for spam. There is however a small one-time maintenance fee to
reconfigure your email to turn filtering on or off.
Is my email being filtered right now?
If you have a Quadlink.net email address then yes you are being filtered. If you requested that you have filtering for your domain previously,
then you are. Otherwise you are not.
What if I receive valid email that was tagged as spam incorrectly?
Please forward the email to Quadsimia and we will in most cases add it to the configuration settings to ensure it does not appear as spam
again.
I really, really, want to have the emails deleted before I receive them. I don’t care if I lose one or two good emails
here or there.
Our software package can delete the emails that get tagged as spam.
Please contact Quadsimia, requesting the change.
What can I do to stop getting spam myself?
A few good practices to follow:
- Do not sign up for mailing lists, or promotions on the Internet unless you know the source and consider them to have a good reputation
- Read privacy policies of companies you do business with online and check all the print as you checkout of online stores to see if you
are signing up for emailing lists from them or their affiliates
- Don't reply to any junk mail you get - it just alerts them to the fact that you're address is real. Otherwise, they presume your address
is dead
- Chat Rooms, Message Boards, Mailing Lists: Your email address can be collected from these places
- Do not forward chain letters
